They operate an extensive fleet of specialized drilling rigs, cranes, and heavy excavation equipment across major infrastructure and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, and enforcement of site-specific safety programs, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies across all active construction and drilling project sites. This is a highly visible, hands-on role requiring a leader who commands immediate respect from field crews, foremen, and project managers, striking an effective balance between rigorous regulatory enforcement and proactive field mentorship.
- On-Site Inspections & Auditing: Conduct daily and weekly comprehensive site safety audits across DFW project locations to monitor compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations (OSHA, DOT) alongside corporate policies.
- Drilling & Heavy Machinery Safety Oversight: Evaluate and mitigate high-risk field activities specific to foundation drilling, including crane and rigging operations, deep hole entry (ADSC standards), excavation/trenching, rebar cage handling, and heavy equipment operation.
- Training & Orientations: Lead and execute comprehensive new-hire safety orientations and continuous, year-round field training. Deliver or coordinate certifications including OSHA 10/30-Hour, ADSC Down Hole Entry, Competent Person Training, Fall Protection, Confined Space, and Basic Crane Operations.
- Pre-Job Planning & JSAs: Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents prior to mobilizing to design Pre-Job Inspection forms and site-specific Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to systematically anticipate and engineer out hazards.
- Incident Investigation & Claims Management: Lead the response team for any site incidents, near-misses, or property damage. Conduct comprehensive root-cause analyses, draft corrective action plans, manage workers' comp documentation, and serve as the primary liaison for OSHA site visits.
- Fleet & Driver Safety Monitoring: Oversee the compliance of field operations trucks and heavy haul vehicles, utilizing corporate driving monitoring metrics and vehicle safety checklists to ensure high standards of on-the-road safety.
- Safety Incentive Administration: Manage and execute the company's quarterly and year-end Safety Incentive Program to acknowledge and reward field employees who consistently demonstrate outstanding safety habits and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 5–10+ years of dedicated safety leadership experience within heavy civil construction, deep foundation drilling, heavy industrial site development, or crane/rigging operations.
- Certifications: CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) strongly preferred. Valid OSHA 500 or 501 trainer designation is highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in OSHA 1926 standards, ADSC drilling standards, NCCCO crane regulations, rigging/signaling, trenching/excavation, and confined space compliance.
- Leadership Style: A "field-first" leader who spends the majority of their time on active job sites engaging with crews, rather than sitting behind a desk. Exceptional communication, conflict-resolution, and empowering mentorship skills are mandatory.
- Logistics: Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record. Ability to travel frequently to active job sites throughout the DFW metroplex.
